This past Saturday night in Louisville, KY cruiserweight Lionel Jones II made his professional boxing debut. He did what many young fighters in the game have to do and that’s hit the road for some action. His opponent Saturday night was Chris Beal, and although Jones is listed as a cruiser the fight took place in the heavyweight division. The ride from Atlanta ended up being well worth it for Lionel who defeated Beal by first round KO. The show was promoted by Dereco Murray of Future Promotions and boasted a solid crowd of 1,200 plus.

We spoke to Calvin McGinnis of PYAAT Boxing Management about his young fighter last night. He was very upbeat about the result of the fight and told me he feels he and his team have a future champion on their hands. The truth to that will come in due time as at just 1-0 there is a long road ahead to gain such golden glory.
